aPRIL fOOLS dAY ... Dance

My company arrived as planned on Saturday (Mar 28) and left the next morning heading home to Calgary. Esther and Vandip took me out for a lovely supper at Kelly O'Bryans. I enjoy the atmosphere there - it is laid back and fun. I had a very rare slice of prime rib which I enjoyed immensely. Esther was kind to Vandip and me by announcing early on that she was the designated driver so we could kick back and enjoy some liquid cheer ... which we did. Thanks Esther.

The next morning Esther was up early fixing an amazing breakfast for us. I don't think she slept much as she was up late having a lengthy shower and shampooing hair. Her hair looks wonderful ... it is long and she just had blonde highlights put in which makes a lovely difference. Then she was sorting through some of her things ... and actually took some stuff home. Whew.
Then I was alone again except for my boys.

Yesterday was April 1st I had announced some time ago that I would have a 'dance party' in place of my usual half hour of entertainment. And I did. My budget was completely blown but I think people had fun. The dance band I chose is called 'Once Again' and they play all the old tunes. There are two accordions and a bass guitar. People were up dancing and even I spent a fair bit of time shuffling around the dance floor. One of our 'Seniors group' ladies loves to dance and she sings all of the songs because she knows them all. Unfortunately her singing voice is atrocious but I'm certainly not going to be the one to tell her that. I am just amazed at the fact that she knows the words to almost every song. Wow. Anyway, her husband passed away a couple of years ago and she is on her own. So she grabs me to be her partner every chance she gets. She must be in her eighties but she is strong and spry so she just pushes me around the floor and seems to be happy as a clam with that.

At four pm the dance was over. Those that had remained to the end either left if they were unable to help or stayed to help me clean up. Clean up was easy as I had used disposable glasses for the punch and napkins or paper plates for the nibbles. I had little dishes on the tables filled with candies and those just got emptied back into a bag and we were done quickly. All in all it went very well and folks want me to do another one soon.

Last night I had a nice supper and watched some TV before turning in. I was in some pain (not surprising) and was lying there in bed arguing with myself whether or not to get up and take a pain pill. At 1:30am my front door squeaked as it was opened stealthily. Cole freaked poor wee lad. My neighbour from across the street had phoned me earlier in the evening saying she still had her cold and had to work in the morning. I said that if she wanted a hot rum, she knew where the rum was. So when she still couldn't sleep at 1:30am she trotted across the street in her pj's. She forgot that my front door squeaks. Tee Hee. She thought she could sneak in, get the rum and sneak back out without waking me. But, I was lying there awake anyway. I didn't hear the key in the lock but when I heard the little squeak I knew who it was. Cole unfortunately did not. Poor wee lad, I thought he was going to have a heart attack. Thomas of course just hopped off the bed and went to greet our late night visitor.

Well, instead of sitting here at the computer, I should take on the day. I have much to do and I have to shampoo my very long hair then dry and untangle it. Tomorrow I go for a haircut. Nothing extreme.

The dance sounds like it was a lot of fun. :) Congrats.

Hopefully, I can have that much fun when I'm older. I'll be the bad singer belting out all the wrong words. :)
