One step forward and ... two back.

Some days it feels like there is no forward movement at all. This morning I was up early (after very restless night) to take the car in for servicing. Thankfully the courtesy car had been reserved for me so I was able to run a couple of errands before heading home to await their call. The call came and the estimate was $1300.00 - YIPES. But my car is getting older and nothing much has needed doing until now. So, I okayed the work and just hope that it is going to run better after this work.

I think that I would be better off taking the bus to the coast again. It is so painful for me though. But my poor little car just isn't up for the long hauls anymore. And there is a car there to use while I am there. So that will work I guess.

Terasen Gas phoned last week and asked me to be home this afternoon from noon until 3:30pm so they could come and change the gas meter. They need to shut the gas off of course and then when finished, they come in and re-light the pilot lights in the furnace and hot water tank (and any other gas fixtures / appliances you might have). Well, I have been here waiting but it is now just after 3:30pm and there has been no word. Typical. I have errands that I still need to run as it is the weekend coming up. I know though that as soon as I leave they will arrive and not believe that I have been here waiting for them all this time. Grrrr.

Well, it is almost 4pm but the workman from the gas company is here. He says he will only be a few minutes so that is good and then I can get out and do what needs to be done today. Hopefully I will have my own car back tomorrow. They say it should be ready by tomorrow afternoon and at least I have the courtesy car until then. It is a blast driving it - it has Midas ads all over it - very colourful and attention drawing. At least I can't loose it in a parking lot.

Well, I will say adieu for now and get ready to leave as soon as the gas company is finished.

I don't know if it's because I live in a more rural area (less busy) but the handymen or whatnot, usually show up before they say they will. Cue me running around the house, throwing on clothes!

Which would you rather have?? :)

I would rather have them arrive on time. They had a three and a half hour window and they all carry cell phones these days.
