Getting ready for ... company

My daughter Esther and her wonderful partner are coming for a very short visit. They are due to arrive Saturday afternoon and leave early the next morning to be home in Calgary that night. It is about an eight hour drive to Calgary from here so is quite doable. They left Edmonton around 5am on Monday and drove all the way to Vancouver and made the last ferry to the Island. They spent the night in Victoria and then were planning to go to Salt Spring Island to camp.

So, I am here at home thinking that I have so much to do to get ready for their visit - even if it is going to be short. The cat(s) messed on the carpet at the bottom of the stairs leading to the basement. The door at the bottom was closed so they couldn't get in to mess in bedrooms or family room but the little landing area is gross. There is no way that I am going to be able to clean that up so I have the measurements of the ruined area and am going to try to find a replacement carpet to fit.

I have quite a shopping list so I am going to have to get going soon. I plan to take myself out for fish and chips when I finish as a treat. But I may be too tired even for that and just come home and throw something together.

I hope everyone has a great day and manages to do something for themselves that lifts and delights them.

hmmm lifts and delights... I pushed Lily for 2 miles to the playground and back. She was happy although she started yelling at me to go faster when she saw the swings. Sigh.

I am going to have a nice warm shower and eat a big salad for lunch. That's not really delightful but it's taking good care of myself and I'll reap the rewards. Right?

Don't work too hard. You still have to help me! Just kidding. :)
