Today I am playing ... catch-up

I haven't added to this Blog for a week and I don't know where to begin. First I will tell you that I still haven't a clue about my Condo. They held their General Meeting but didn't get to the issue of pets. That means I am still at square #1. Helen is still optimistic so we are now pressuring the Strata Management company and it seems like there might be another meeting called to address the pet policy. So keep your fingers crossed for me. I would like to know if I need to start searching for another place or not.

Next, we held our AGM (Seniors Association) on Tuesday (May 27). I am officially the 2nd Vice President. I also was there to present the Senior of the Year Award to the selected member. This I did. Pearl Sugars now carries the title until the end of May next year. The AGM is always the last tuesday in May and then we take a break from meetings until mid-September. Some of the activities carry on into the summer but most also take a hiatus.

On the way to the AGM, I was involved in what was close to being an accident on the highway into Westbank. I was tooling along at just around the speed limit when the pickup truck ahead of me suddenly hit his brakes. I hit mine and managed to stop before nailing him as did the guy behind me. The man (at least it looked like a man's arm) in the truck stuck his arm out of his window and made the motion to stop for the traffic in the left lane. They actually responded accordingly and stopped. Then all was revealed. A calm and obviously confident mother duck sauntered across the highway with TEN tiny ducklings behind her. By now we were all waving and flashing our lights to stop the oncoming traffic. They stopped and mama (with all 10 babies) made it across safely. I am sure we all gave a sigh of relief when she reached the far ditch. I am so grateful for those who also stopped and shared this moment. I am also very grateful that I didn't have to witness the death of this lovely family.

I have two bird houses in my back yard and I enjoy the families that come to live there and share their lives with me for a short time. And now I have a new tenant. Last night was his first night in residence and I hope my neighbours forgive me for providing the right environment for him. He is very loud and made his music (?) until about 3am. He kept me awake for a little while but it was mostly pain that kept me from sleep. The cats were fairly perturbed as they didn't seem to recognize the song: rehBIT rehBIT rehBIT .... rehBITrehBITrehBITrehBIT ... rehBITrehBITrehBIT ... Oh yes, a little frog who sounded happy and was maybe hoping to attract another little frog to set up housekeeping ... I wonder how many more will arrive. When Rick first put the pond in for me he mentioned that it would likely attract frogs but this is the first year they have come. Colour me thrilled.

Well, I should close for now. Paul is here doing the baseboard. He was last here a week ago and put down the linoleum and put in my new high (handicapped) toilet. The toilet is wonderful and now once the baseboard is in, I can bring all my stuff back into the bathroom. I have brought some back into the linen cupboard but the cabinet still needs the doors on and the mirrors still have to be put back up as well and also the towel rails but then all will be finished and I can put back all the stuff that I have been storing in the dining room and my bedroom. I bought a shower curtain the other night that goes with the colour scheme very nicely. And I am excited to put in the little finishing touches. So adieu for now.

Well, I'm glad things are finally moving along! I love the sound of frogs.

That's awesome about all the traffic stopping. :) For the ducks, I mean. I've seen people try pretty hard to stop here too. If the animal is cute, they'll slow down. Poor squirrels get run over all the time. :(
