It is good, as you get older, to try new things. This either elevates you to new hights or leaves you feeling totally incompetant and useless. Thus far I have been able to navigate my way through the 'Blog' instructions to the point where I believe I can actually handle this. So far so good.
I have been visiting my niece's blog regularly for a long time now and finally thought I should give it a go. Don't really know why as I don't do much so shouldn't have a lot to report. I am unable to be up and around for any length of time so this might provide me an activity that I could enjoy and be a relief for boredom. I play far too much Spider Solitaire.
Excuse me for a moment.
Well hmph, I shouldn't have waited and written excuse me. One of the frailties of getting older is loss of bladder control. Now when my bladder signals that it has to go - it means NOW. You don't take time to finish what you are doing. NOW means you likely aren't going to make it to the throne if you don't rush. Unfortunately I can't rush. Both cats heard my cry of anguish and came running. Thomas came right in and made note of the fact that I had peed on the mat around the toilet. Cole sat at the door looking superior as usual.
Now I have the extra job of laundering the mat which means a trip to the basement. For you younger and more active individuals this is not a big deal. For me it is exhausting and painful. First I must put whatever is to go downstairs in the laundry basket, unless it is a largish box with handles. Then I set it at the top of the stairs and go down three steps myself. Next I turn around and bring the basket down a step. I go down another step and then bring the basket down a step and so on until we are at the bottom. Going up I put the basket as high up as I can and then take a step or two up before moving the basket again until we are at the top. Complicating all this of course are my painful knees, hips and back as well as the fact that both rotator cuffs are torn and not only painful but restrict movement of my arms. Sometimes going up gets me out of breath and sometimes my heart is acting up and gives me more problems. There are days when I simply can't manage the stairs at all so then I am stuck until a better day comes along.
Well, I hadn't planned on this being the topic of my first blog but I plan to tell it as it is. You have the choice of not reading it. Goodbye for now. I will attempt to get the laundry on and then I must head out to the Seniors' Centre to make sure everything is in order for a Fun Cards event tomorrow night.

You're off to a great start! You don't have to write "excuse me" when you get up. When we read it, we don't know you've gone anywhere. heee!
How true. But I was trying to be polite. :)
You are my first visitor. And you left a comment. Nice going. Thank you - now I suppose I have to leave a comment next time I visit Lily's blog.
