Wow, what a night! The CPAP machine makes a continuous hum which will not be a problem, nor will getting used to sleeping with a mask. The mask just covers the nose and the pressure is continuous so there are no rude awakenings with a blast of pressure or anything. The problem last night was mainly my pain. My left shoulder and right hip can't take being lain on for long. So of course that means that I am always turning over as I cannot sleep on my back. That is even more painful.
Last night I was constantly getting tangled in the wires and hose to the mask. The hose has to be long of course but then with all the wires as well.... Rhandir (night technician) said that there were 38 wires on me. Yipes - even more than I thought. When I went to the bathroom I had to carry a box into which they were all plugged and then also scoop up the excess so I wouldn't step on the wires or trip. Quite the operation.
So it was actually a relief when I had to get up at 6am to have my wires removed and was able to come home. I treated myself to a Starbuck's coffee on the way home and have been able to stay awake and do a few things but now I think I will head to bed for whatever length of nap I need.
