Oh, my aching ... back

It takes very little effort to make my back go into spasm these days. It aches constantly, reminding me that yet one more part of my entity has gone south so to speak. This weekend I was trying to tidy up a few loose ends but as I would tidy up one, another two or three would work their way loose leaving me even more to do. Sigh.

I leave for Surrey in a couple of days. I was hoping to do so tomorrow morning but I need to be at the Seniors' meeting on Tuesday and then send my column in to the paper that night. So I will leave Wednesday morning likely on the bus. I have lots to accomplish tomorrow and again Tuesday so the ride on the bus will be my only relaxation time for the next week or so. Even bigger sigh.

I can't wait to see my friend Trish again. She will pick me up at the bus in Langley and then we will go for lunch. I have never been to Fort Langley so she is going to take me there. She says I will love it and I am sure she is right. I love this woman. I hear her lovely voice on the phone and my troubles seem to float away. How wonderful to find such a friend at my age.

Trish threw a birthday party for me when I was last there. So any of you who were feeling sad for me being at the coast alone for my birthday - it wasn't so. Trish invited her daughter Deanna and her young son Max aged 5. She also invited her son Dave and his young daughter Tasha aged 9. Then there was Trish and her husband Bob. And of course me. We had a sumptuous meal of beautifully cooked ribs and all the trimmings. There was birthday cake, presents and even a balloon. I felt so loved. I can't tell you how wonderful that was.

I also will be seeing Sonia again. Her flight arrives around 11pm on Wednesday and I will meet her at the airport. She choose terrible flight times from my point of view. She leaves at 6am the following Tuesday which means being at the airport around 4am which in turn means leaving from the house in Surrey around 3am or so. By the time I get back to the place in Surrey to return to bed it will be 6am or even later. Trish had better not arrive wide eyed and bushy tailed around 8am that morning I can tell you.

Well, it is getting late and I still have much to do. I have laundry going downstairs which means trying to get back down there to change it over and start a new load. Somedays I simply can't do the stairs. In fact some weeks I can't do them. I am looking forward to having the washer and dryer on the main floor. If and when I move.

I'm sorry about the flight times but I was really trying to accommodate Sarah, since she's doing me the favor of watching Lily for a week.

The nice part about the flights is that I have really short lay over times. :) I'll be booking it through Chicago!

I can't wait to meet Trish and of course, to see my favorite auntie again. :)
